VTG, Joseph K. Strauss, “Well Done”, WOOD JIGSAW PUZZLE. 500+ pieces. RARE Collectible, Hand-cut, Wooden puzzle was produced between the 1950’s-1970’s. The image depicts a hunter in the field with his loyal dog, with what appears to be a pheasant. The detailed background of the scene with the water and trees is beautiful. This Unique puzzle is from the Joseph K. Straus series packaged in the blue and white box with a puzzle design on the cover, and a small guide picture on the bottom of the box. Approx. 19.5” x 15.75” completed. The condition of this Complete puzzle, is Exceptional. The Original box has some storage wear given its age. There may be some light glare/reflection or shadow on some photos. The listed item is Exactly what you’ll receive. See pictures. Joseph K. Straus set up his own puzzle business along with his wife, in Brooklyn, NY in 1933. For over 30 years they were a prolific producer of puzzles, especially after WW II. The firm closed in 1974 when the last family member retired. More durable than cardboard puzzles each wooden puzzle piece is stronger and rigid. They aren’t subject to wear and tear like cardboard pieces, which are known to degrade over time. Wooden puzzles will last for years and years to come. Many people have their wood puzzles for so long that they pass them down as family heirlooms. Wood puzzles can last for generations. This is a beautiful puzzle, produced in a bygone era, that would be a great addition for anyone that enjoys and appreciates vintage wooden puzzles.
