Unusual Old Wood Cased Sharpening Stone. The stone itself is 6 1/8″ long, 2 7/8″ wide, 2″ high at the center, the wooden case is 7 7/16″ long, 4″ wide, 2 1/8″ high. and this weighs 2 lbs 13 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition, the only cleaning was to give the stone a soap and water bath. The stone looks to be a type of sandstone. The face of the stone has some stains, a chip off of the one end, and some small ones on the sides. The face is flat in all directions. The underside of the stone has some deep saw marks left over from when this was made and there is some staining on the sides. The case looks to be pine and was hand carved. That also has some stains, dings, few checks at the ends, but it is solid. This is an interesting older stone to say the least that can still get the job done for sure! All items for sale unless otherwise noted are purchased and in most cases professionally restored by me. I take pride in offering quality items. Not everything is perfect, but it is as I say it is. Also, I smoke a pipe, drink whiskey, both cheap and good, and cuss more in a hour than most folks do in a month.
